How to come up with great gift ideas
First off, it really helps to know the person well. The better you know him the easier it should be to come up with ideas. I try to come up with things that are going to make the person feel good. I want to give something that will really be liked, not just something that ends up at a yard sale in a few years. Here is a short list of things you can do to come up with ideas.
· Ask someone else who really knows that person well what you should get. This especially helps if you really don’t know them personally.
· Find out what kind of hobbies the person has. Then search for something related to one of those hobbies. Does he like sports? What is his favorite team? Is he a music lover? Does he like concerts?
· Think about the person’s professional career for ideas. Is there anything suited specifically for his line of work? Is he especially proud of his professional accomplishments?
· Think about the person’s home. Is there anything you can recall him mentioning that he would like to change about his home or apartment? Is the person planning any big projects?
· If you are considering clothing as a gift, make sure you already know what types of clothing the person wears. Don’t just get whatever is popular at the moment. That person might not wear those things.
· Have you ever seen this person receive gifts before? If so, was there anything specific you remember them getting in the past that they really loved? You could try finding something along the same lines.
· Aside from hobbies, how does this person spend their time? What do they do after work on a typical day? You might be able to find something that they can use to make that part of their day a little more enjoyable.
